What Vietnam Taught Us About Breaking Bad Habits :... →
This is a really interesting look at addictions and how to help people overcome them, or overcome them yourself. This is particularly interesting for me in the vain of trying to help my dad quit smoking cigarettes. The way I see it, when somebody you care about is trying to overcome an addiction, it’s not a single person’s effort, it should be a team effort.

heyamberrae: I’ve always hated stupid rules. “You can’t go to the bathroom unless you ask for permission.” “Raise your hand before speaking.” “Don’t talk to strangers.” “Don’t get hurt.” “Never give up.” These questions are why our education system breeds people to be employees. It’s…

Cool story on how to focus on execution when there are distractions. Plus I’m a big Fab.com fan. betashop: Let’s face it, fundraising can be a real pain in the ass for the entrepreneur. It takes up a ton of time that can be otherwise spent managing the business. Sure, it’s a necessary evil, but it’s also typically a big distraction. It’s also a lot like dating. You have to go on a lot...

This is really cool. Opower has a lot of deals with power companies so they have the ability to pull in real utility data to make this app that much more useful than similar previous projects by Microsoft and Google.

The iPhone 4S : Daring Fireball →
Wednesday, 12 October 2011 This is the easiest product review I’ve ever written. The iPhone 4S is exactly what Apple says it is: just like the iPhone 4, but noticeably faster, with a significantly improved camera, and an impressive new voice-driven feature called Siri. SIRI Siri feels like old-school Apple. Newton-esque, at least in spirit. Sculley-era Apple was obsessed with this sort of...
